This epic fantasy book comes out on the 3rd of January and is published by Friends With Pens Author Group! At 483 pages it fits right in with a lot of epic fantasy books and honestly sounds like a great way to start the new year!

A hired carriage waited nearby, out of sight. Inside it, his younger sister was safe, hidden from her husband’s brutalising hands.
Patiently, Lead Auren waited. His body coiled to strike when he laid eyes on his squinty-eyed, scrawny, Daven brother-in-law. Even if he were the last of his race, Auren would kill him for his nature.
A single candle flickered in the large room stacked with dirty dishes, discarded food, and empty kegs. The floor nearly crawled with buzzing insects. Their bodies scurried and their limbs scratched underneath the ankle-deep garbage.
The Daven entered, immediately noting the burning candle and the wide-open bedchamber door. “I don’t know how you escaped–”
Lead Auren straightened but hid his solid muscular stature and confidence by dropping his shoulders and relaxing his frame. “I let her out.”
His sister’s husband, towering over him by a foot, strode forward. “You’ve no right to interfere in matters of my home and wife.”
Lead Auren calmly smiled, his tone conversational and weak. “I’ve every right. I’m Lead Auren of Maidstone.”
“Her big brother returns from his pampering at the castle?” Amused, he laughed. “As head of your family, let me welcome you back into the fold and remind you, by law, she’s my property.” He shoved Auren, and he allowed it, stumbling backwards a few paces.
Lead Auren had promised his frightened sister he would not start a fight. However, he would enjoy provoking him, then ending it. He rubbed his hand over his week’s worth of stubble on his head. “Azalea is no one’s property.”
“It’s a brave man who arrives with magic to steal from a noughty.”
“I need no magic.” His brown eyes remained fixated on the man as he lifted the bow and quiver from his back and tossed them aside. “A noughty is born without magic. You? You were too stupid to learn.”
As Auren hoped, the man’s anger ignited, and he attacked. The Lead widened his stance, squared his shoulders, and hardened his frame. This time, when shoved his body did not give.
