They say that when you’re trapped in a life-or-death situation, you really see a person’s true colors. That’s the premise that Holly Jackson plays around with in her new book Five Survive!
As you all should know, I’m a fan of Holly Jackson! Her series, A Good Girls Guide to Murder, was fantastic, and when I saw that I could read the ARC for Five Survive, it took me less than 5 minutes to sign up!
Five Survive came out on the 29th of November and was published by Delacorte Press, a Penguin Random House Imprint. It is 380 pages long and falls under the YA thriller category.
(Speaking of Penguin Random House, how is everyone feeling about the merger being blocked?)

Mini Book Review:
I don’t know if I loved this much as I loved A Good Girls Guide to Murder. The twist at the end could have been more believable.
That being said, Holly Jackson did do some very cool things in the story with how she depicted Oliver and Red. Red and how she’s always hyper-focused on not taking up too much space, and Oliver just because it’s so interesting to see such a vile person in action. He’s an abusive asshole, and he’ll probably go so far in life because everyone is ready to let it go. After all, human decency doesn’t match up against practicality. As a whole, Holly Jackson writes characters that feel so real that you can imagine things happening in front of your eyes.
